Brothers and Sisters,

Ken talked about this long term disability program at the December meeting.

I was a Pittsburgh Police Officer for 13 years before I was forced to retire in 2007 due to a job related knee injury and subsequent surgery.  I have been in the insurance field since then and wanted to mention how I helped the City of Pittsburgh's FOP provide a low cost long term disability plan for our members.

The City of Pittsburgh terminated the long term disability program that they provide its officers due to ACT 47 and replaced it with a voluntary AFLAC disability plan.  I worked with the City's FOP to provide an alternative to the AFLAC plan.  The one we came up with is lower priced, provides a much richer benefit and lasts longer.  Approximately one third of the department signed up so far.  If you are interested in providing benefits for your department or want an evaluation of your current program, please give me a call at
